Catchfly

Silene’s are related to the Carnation family.  They can grow in full sun or part shade and will tolerate most soil types.  This flower has a bright pink color and is a real eye catcher when used as a border.  The name Catchfly comes from the sap the plant’s stem produces. This flower does not actually attract flies or other insects.  It can be fall planted in zones 7-10.  Catchfly is a native to southern Europe and is also called Sweet William Catchfly.

The broadcast rate for seeding is 2 – 2.5 pounds per acre.

The seed drill rate for seeding in rows is 1 pounds per acre.
