Gilia – Bird’s Eye

Bird’s Eye Gilia requires full sun, up to only partial shade.  This flower needs well-drained soil with an average nutrient composition, although it can handle some sandy soil.  Its seed is best propagated by sowing outdoors, in cooler climates.  Bird’s Eye Gilia can adapt to many different climate conditions.  It is more cold tolerant than most other flowers.  It does not do well when transplanted. There are over 100 species of Gilia.  This one can be fall planted in zones 7-10.

The broadcast rate for seeding is 4 – 5 pounds per acre.

The seed drill rate for seeding in rows is 2 pounds per acre.
